Don’t Forget! Annual Documents for Guardianships and Conservatorships

Attention all court appointed Guardians and Conservators. Do you know when your annual reports are due to the probate court? Once a year, within 28 days of the anniversary of your appointment as Guardian or Conservator, you are required to file annual documents to inform the court of what steps you have taken to assist the ward that year. This is the step you must take in order to extend your Letters of Conservator or Guardianship for another year.

A Guardian must file a Report of Guardian in which you outline how the ward is doing health wise and what steps you have taken to assist in the physical care and wellbeing of the ward.

Conservators should file an Annual Account of Fiduciary. This accounting tells the court what income the ward may have received over the last 12 months and what expenses were paid on their behalf. It is also important to inform the court what assets of the ward remain.

Martin L. Rogalski, P.C. can assist you in preparing these annual documents and serving them on the necessary interested parties so that you can fulfill your court required duties. Please give us a call at 616-457-4410 or complete our contact form if you are in need of assistance.
